GENEALOGY BACK TO BEFORE 1700 B.C.

The following information was collected from oral tradition and ancient records by William and Mary Durning and published in their book, A Guide To Irish Roots, produced by the Irish Family Names Society in La Mesa, California in 1986. It has been checked against other genealogies that attempt to trace back beyond documentation. In most of the information the diferences were in spelling of peoples names, missing generations and differing versions of the origin of other Moran families.

What is shown here is the origin of the Moran family of Connacht as well as the Mughron family from which some Morans came. On occasion some side issues are shown as is does relate to the overall text. An asterisk means the individual was a King. Additional spellings in Aqua are from other genealogists who generally (better than generally, there work is almost identical to each other except for the spelling) agree with this genealogy based on oral tradition and ancient texts. It begins with the known O'Morans of about 1100 A.D.in Connacht.
